Homework will begin in mid October. Every first grader receives the same
homework packet for that week.
I will be sending homework home on Monday and it will be due on
Thursday. Thursday night will be P.E.T. (Personal Excellence Training)
Night. This night your child will have homework in an area specific to
his/her academic need. It is district policy that first grade students are
not to spend more than 15-30 minutes per week night on homework. Your child
should complete one paper from his/her packet each night in addition to
reading for 20 minutes. There are only 4 pages per packet so it should not
take him/her all week to complete. Please do not leave the packet for last
minute or push to complete it all in one night. Help your child to settle
into a routine that will last him/her all year. Please review his/her
homework to ensure your child understands the concept and has performed to
his/her best ability. The homework may change throughout the year as the
level of difficulty increases. Parents will be advised of any such
changes.
