My name is Mr. Barron, but everyone calls me 'Mr. B'. Wow, 5th grade is here
and only yesterday your student was entering Kindergarten! I bet every year
each teacher told you, "This grade is very important because..." and they
were telling you the truth. But this really is a critical grade. Fifth grade
is an important year for all students, because it is the end of elementary
school and the gateway to the future of your student's education. Your
student is a child, but with the standards, sometimes it will seem like they
are being asked to reach for the stars. I will try to help your student make
the transition and trust me, we will make it. I am looking forward to working
with you and your student this year and helping him or her achieve his or her
full potential.
Another aspect to helping your student is a good parent-teacher
communication. Throughout the year, I will communicate through this web site,
emails and or parent-teacher conferences. I encourage you to contact me if
you have any questions or concerns any time. This site will direct you to my
email, but if you wish, here it is for your convenience jbarron@srvusd.net or
ask your student for my personal cell number.
For your part, please make sure that your student is keeping his or her
agenda current. This will help me help them become more organized and better
prepared for 6th grade.
Your child's regular and prompt attendance at school is crucial to his or her
success. I can't emphasize this point enough!!! Fifth grade has a mixture of
individual and group work; therefore, it is next to impossible to make-up
group work at home. When possible please make any doctor appointments for
after school or vacations.
I have been a teacher for over 16 years. This year I will start my fourteenth
year at Greenbrook. I am looking forward to the start of this year, it is
going to be fantastic! I can't wait to get started. I look forward to
meeting your student on the first day of school and I also look forward to
meeting you at Back to School Night.
Sincerely,
Mr. B
