5th Grade Autobiography
Due Monday, April 16th
Assignment:
Create a Personal Autobiography.
Assignment Objectives:
To complete a well-written chapter each week. At the beginning of each week,
students will be given a chapter to complete and turn in by the beginning of
the following week (this means they have the weekend to work on it). Most
writing will be done in class, however, some students may want to type it at
home and add photos, illustrations, documents, etc.) The finished product will
be put together in class.
Timeline:
Beginning in January – middle of April.
Grading:
Will be based on presentation of the book, writing, timeliness of assignment
and creativity.
General Requirements:
Minimum 1 page for each chapter with normal size font; single-spaced. (I highly
encourage typing double-spaced during your "rough draft"
phase!) Photos/hand-drawn illustrations are optional, but encouraged.
For
some of you “go-getters,” you will have the option of creating four additional
chapters.
Throughout
this project, we will read different books that will model creative,
descriptive writing.
Listed below are the
chapter topics for your book. Each chapter must be typed – at least one page,
no bigger than 14 font, and single spaced.
We will have some
opportunities to work on this in class but you may have to write some from
home, as well. Be sure you have a way to save your work if you are
working from multiple computers. (flash drive, google docs, etc.)
Please be sure to use the
editing process. It’s a good idea for someone else to read your work and
to use spell check! Also, be sure you have a folder to collect your
chapters before you bind it in a creative way (your choice!) that will help you
treasure it for a lifetime.
Please be careful with it
and do your best work.
Grading will be based on
presentation of book, writing, timeliness of assignments and creativity.
