Can my child bring a snack?
Yes, we encourage your child to bring a small, healthful snack. Children are
allowed to eat their snack at the green picnic tables.
Can I bring treats for my child's birthday?
2nd Grade has decided due to an increase in food allergies that
we will NOT be permitting treats for a child's birthday.
However, if your child would like to bring in something else,
such as pencils, or erasers that is fine.
Please make sure your child brings in enough for 26 students.
What if my child forgets their homework?
Everyone forgets once in a while, so the first time they forget I will just
ask them to remember to bring it in the following Monday. After the first
time, they will be asked to do their homework at school the next day during
their recess time. If they did not complete their homework because of a
special event at home (birthday, Grandma's in town, etc.), please send me a
note and let me know when they will be bringing it in.
How do I know if a book is the appropriate level for my child?
A quick test would be to have your child read aloud one page. If your child
makes three or more mistakes, the book is at their frustration level, and an
easier book should be chosen. However, this would be an excellent book for
you to read to/with your child, as parents are great reading role models.
Can a sibling go on a field trip?
No. As a parent chaperone you are responsible for the safety of those
students assigned to you. Siblings can be a distraction that interfere with
the learning environment of the field trip.
How often is my child assessed?
Students will be assessed throughout the school year to gauge growth and
progress. There will be weekly math and spelling tests on Fridays. Reading
Comprehension, Writing, Science, and Social Studies are tested on an on-
going basis. In addition, there are formalized district and state-wide
mandated assessments given throughout the year.
What is Citizen of the Week?
Please refer to the Citizen of the Week tab for a full explanation and
schedule.
Can my child receive enrichment homework?
Please use the links provided on my website for enrichment activities that
would suit your child's individual needs. There are also several great
teacher stores in the area that can provide great enrichment materials.
