We are short on tissue for the classroom so when we run out it is paper towels...ouchie...so please bring in some tissue for our runny noses. Thanks! :)

Attention 7th and 8th Graders: Your 7th and 8th grade years require immense responsibility, positivity, and determination.  Don't procrastinate and ask questions when you don't understand.  Feed your brain with protein for breakfast and lunch, and come to class ready to participate and learn.  I am here to help you reach success, but you have to help yourselves first.  :)

Welcome students and parents:
  •  Reminder: Junior high is a whole different system for the incoming 7th to get use to.  It may take a few weeks or even a full trimester for some of our 7th to understand the system and what questions they need to ask.  They need to sit up in their seats, focus on the material being presented and discussed, and not let their minds wander.  7th and 8th grade CORE moves quickly at Hart-Ransom.  A student can always call another student from class - and I encourage this, especially because when they are in high school and college they will be networking with other students on a nightly basis.  Good habits start early!
  • I really cannot comment on the time your child  is spending at home to do his or her work, since every child has their own individual work and study habits.  Just be sure that your child is in a spot where he or she will be totally focused.  I have told them each and every day that they need to read over what we/they did in their interactive notebooks in CORE before going to sleep.  When they are sleeping their minds will process again what they have learned!!!  As you can tell, I try not to waste a minute of time!
I hope this clarifies some of the expectations of a junior high student.
Kindly,
Ms. Rice
