This will be the seventh year that Amanda Landau will be teaching 2nd grade!
She taught for 5 years in the Los Angeles Unified School District, in an
innovative school focusing on curriculum design and rigorous instruction.
Originally from Northern California, Amanda moved to Los Angeles to attend
University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), majoring in Sociology and Women’s
Studies. She then stayed on to receive her Masters of Education in Urban
Teaching, writing her thesis on building student confidence through Writer’s
Workshop. Amanda feels strongly about positive learning environments where
each student is valued equally, and where each student’s strengths are
emphasized. She is so excited to meet all of her amazing students, and
witness the achievements, triumphs, and accomplishments they make this year!
Last year she moved to Carmel Valley with her husband Michael and two cats --
and has already fallen in love with beautiful San Diego. They are now
expecting a daughter on January 27th :)
