Welcome

The Foundation at Kumeyaay is a 501(c)3 non-profit fundraising organization which was created to raise money for needed educational programs at Kumeyaay that are not funded by the school district. In addition to working with the PTA, we work with the school, parents, the local community, and small and large businesses to support Kumeyaay Elementary.

With the Foundation's help, Kumeyaay students alternate weekly instruction between a science lab and a music class . The Foundation also funds the Fine Artists Program, where our children learn about famous artists and experiment with fine-art techniques. In 2004/2005, we helped to complete the turfing of the sports field. That same year, we also purchased approximately $40,000 in technology items, including state-of-the-art document cameras/projectors and portable laptop computers for the upper grade classrooms. In the 2007/2008 school year, the Foundation also funded a major expansion of Kumeyaay's Guided Reading Book Resouces. 2009/2010 the Foundation was able to purchase 2 Promethian White Boards so the staff at Kumeyaay would have technology at their fingertips to work with our students. At Spring Fling 2012, neary $33,000 was raised, all of which goes to support educational programs at Kumeyaay, including science, art, music, technology, and more!

Please join us! Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month (unless otherwise noted--please see the Calendar) at 6:30 pm in the Teachers' Lounge. Everyone is welcome--parents, teachers, and members of the community. Our next board meeting is Tuesday, June 5, 2012.
