Class Procedures

  1. What to do when you enter the class:

·         Before the bell rings:

ü       Turn in your homework assignments.

ü       Pick up any graded assignments in the box.

ü       Ask Ms. Myers any questions you may have or just say hello!

·         When the bell rings:

ü       Quietly sit in your assigned seat

·         After the bell rings:

ü       Check the board for a warm up assignment.  If there is an assignment, get a piece of paper out and get to work.

ü       If there is no assignment, be patient and ready for all instructions.

 

  1. What is expected during activities:

·         Individual Assignments:

ü       You will be working on your own.  If you have a question about the assignment you may quietly ask a student next to you. 

ü       If you need the teachers help, raise your hand and be patient she will come as soon as she can.

·         Group Assignments:

ü       When moving into groups, quietly follow the teacher’s instructions to join your group members.

ü       Move desks together.

ü       Work on the assignment using classroom voices.

ü       Do not yell across the room.

  1. What is expected at the end of class:

·         Leave the class in better shape than when you found it  picking up all trash and returning anything you used during class.

·         Return all desks to their rightful spot.

·         Wait until you are excused by the teacher (the bell ringing does not count)

 

  1. What is expected during tests and quizzes:

·         Remember to keep your eyes on your own paper.

·         Silence is golden.  This means that from the moment the first quiz is handed out until the last quiz is turned in there will be no talking.

·         If you have a question, quietly raise your hand and the teacher will come to you.

 

 

 

  1.  What is expected during class discussions:

·         Raise your hand and participate

·         Feel free to disagree but make sure that you are respectful.

·         These discussions are for the class as a whole, there should be no side conversations or comments.

 

  1. What if you need to get up ( i.e. throw something away, sharpen your pencil, etc):

·         Wait until the day’s instructions are given and the class is not working together as a whole (including class discussions). 

·         During the activity, quietly get up and do what you need to do.  Make sure you do not disrupt other students.

 

  1. What if you need to go to the restroom:

·         Following school rules, you will need to wait until at least 10 minutes into the period.

·         Wait until the day’s instructions are given and the class is not working together as a whole (including class discussions). 

·         Have your planner filled out and ready to go when you raise your hand to ask the teacher’s permission.
