Math Practice Website
Today in the computer lab we visited the math practice site "IXL".  Each student was given their own login information so they are able to access the site and practice different math skills at school, home, or anywhere else with an internet connection!  Their login will be active until June 15th.  You are welcome to sign them up to use the site if you feel your child would benefit from this type of extra math practice over the summer.

Walkathon Survey
Did your child participate in the Walkathon last Friday?  If so, please take a moment to complete this survey.

Meals Matter Website
As you know, we have started a Health Unit called Shaping Up My Choices.  Visit this website to find kid-friendly recipes that can be made at home!

We did it!
Congrats to all the Room 19 students!  We found out yesterday that our class was the first to be all registered for the Walkathon.  As a reward we get $100 for our class!  Today we brainstormed what we would like to spend the money on.  A final vote and decision will be made soon!

Walkathon Sponsorship
It's great to see that so many Room 19 students have signed up for the Walkathon.  Don't forget to encourage and help them to get sponsorships!  This letter can be used for students to email and give out to family and friends that may want to sponsor their walking.  The student that gets the most donations will be principal for a day and the classroom with the most donations will get a trophy and $100!

Parent Survey

The Lincoln Parent Survey is now online!  Click here to complete it.  Once complete, print and sign the last page and have your child bring it to me for a Lincoln wristband!

Student Council Japan Relief Drive
The Student Council is holding a Japan Relief Drive now through Friday, May 6th.  This drive is similar to the one that was done for Haiti last year, in which students earned money at home (ex: allowance, doing chores, etc.) and then donated it to the relief fund here at school.  Just like last year, all the money raised here at Lincoln will be given to the organization K.I.D.S.  They have a "Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami Relief" fund.  Here is their website if you want to check it out:

http://www.kidsdonations.org/

Their website says, "Every $10 in cash can help us deliver $100 of donated products to the people who need them."

Walkathon
Save the Date.... Friday, May 13th at 3:30pm!  More information about the Walkathon will be given out after Spring Break!

Book Report #3
The third and final book report of the year was assigned in class today.  Please ask your child to show you the handout that explains the book report requirements.  The report is due on April 12th.  Students must have their folk tale approved by me by Friday, March 25th.

Click here (then scroll down) to see examples of puppets made by former students.

**Please note: The summary that they write should be from their own point of view and written in their own words.  Their presentation to the class should be from the point of view of the character they choose.  For example, if they make a princess puppet they would tell the folk tale to the class as if they are the princess!

Kathryn Otoshi
On Wednesday we were lucky enough to have author and illustrator Kathryn Otoshi give a presentation here at Lincoln!  She is the author and illustrator of a few books, including One and Zero.  The students really enjoyed hearing these books and they passed along a great message that coordinates nicely with our school-wide Peace Builders program.  If you are interested in ordering these or any of her other books at a special Lincoln discounted rate, please see the order form attached to the Lincoln Log emailed out yesterday.  Orders will be taken through March 11th.

Got Pictures?

We are currently working on the yearbook page for Room 19 and are in need of pictures!
Have you attended any Room 19 party or event this year?  If so, can you email me copies of the pictures
you may have?  If you have a lot, consider putting them on a CD or on a picture hosting site such as Picasa, Snapfish, or Shutterfly.
