This is my 6th year teaching at Lincoln Elementary and it is truly a wonderful place to be. I taught a
straight 2nd grade class for 3 years. I then had the opportunity to teach a 2/3 combination class and
it was through that experience which caused me to fall in love with 3rd grade. This will now be my
2nd year teaching a straight third grade class. Not only do I enjoy the 3rd grade curriculum, but I
also think that 3rd graders are at such a terrific age and stage of development, it's the students that
really make me love what I do.
Prior to teaching at Lincoln I completed my undergrad at San Jose State University and received a BA
in Child Development. I then went on to earn my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. After 3 years
of teaching I decided I wanted to go back to school to pursue a degree in Administration. In
December 2009 I earned an MA in Education Administration from Santa Clara University. My goal is
to one day put my MA to use and go into administration, possibly as a principal, but for the time
being teaching is my passion and I can't see myself doing anything else.
As for my personal life, I am happily married to my husband Sam. I am also the proud mother to
my son Jordan. He was born on October 20, 2010. I absolutely LOVE being a Mommy!!! Sam and I
both grew up in San Jose and we're fortunate to be surrounded by family and friends. We
spend a lot of time with the people who mean the most to us. However, we also like to enjoy
ourselves by going to a variety of sporting events. I support the bay are teams and favor the 49ers,
Giants, and Warriors. We try to go to games whenever we have the chance. We're hoping that Jordan
enjoys sports as much as we do. I also love to go shopping, meet friends for lunch/dinner, read,
and go for pedicures but my ultimate guilty pleasure is shoe shopping. I don't think I will ever have
enough shoes!
Room #20 will be a welcoming and safe learning environment which will promote student achievement
through the use of cooperative learning and small group instruction. Students will be encouraged to
help one another and to work together collaboratively. Every student will be valued and respected as an
individual and their thoughts, opinions, and questions will be heard. Students will take an active part in
their own learning by setting personal goals and reviewing individual progress. Parents will be active
participants in the classroom and will help to support student learning and success. Students will be
tolerant and less discriminative toward others and will have increased ability in communication. Each
student will be encouraged to become a more self-directed and independent learner. All students will
be encouraged and guided to reach their full potential and to respect the value of life-long learning.
