LANGUAGE ARTS

 

*Reading our Core Literature book Charlotte’s Web.  In groups, students are performing a skit of a chapter assigned to them.

 

*We are continuing our poetry unit.

 

*The AR pizza and soda party for students that met their AR goal will be held on Thursday, June 11^th.  I will provide pizza and soda during lunch time.  Today, invitations were given to students. 

 

*Later this week, all third grade students will receive information regarding a summer reading.  Students are asked to read books from a list.  Each book read will be awarded points.  Out of the five classes in our grade level, the class that has the most amount of points at the beginning of 2009-2010 school year will be awarded a Pizza Party during the first week of school in 4^th grade.  I encourage everyone to participate.

 

SPELLING

 

*No spelling for the remainder of the year

           

MATH – Review

 

*For the remaining of the school year, students will review various math concepts with each 3^rd grade teacher.  This week, students will go to Ms. Partington’s classroom and review multi-digit addition and subtraction

 

*Homework will not be assigned. 

 

*Students should continue to review their multiplication facts for about 5 – 10 minutes daily.

 

SOCIAL STUDIES -

 

*The students did a marvelous job on their Biography Project and script.  Way to go class!

 

OTHER

*The End of the Year Pool Party will be on Tuesday, June 9^th at 9:30am – 12:00pm.  Please remind students to wear their swim suit attire, bring a towel, sunscreen, flip flops (that can only be worn at the pool ), and dry clothes to change into after swimming.

 

*Please return the bottom portion of the Camp Arroyo waiver letter by Tuesday.

*Volunteers are needed to help sell drinks and snacks at the Livermore Salsa Feast on Saturday, August 15.  Volunteers are needed from 12:00pm – 5:00pm in one hour shifts.  Our booth will be located in front of the Bankhead Theater.  Items sold from the Salsa Feast will go towards the cost of Camp Arroyo.  Please contact me if you are available to help.  Thank you in advance for your time!

 

*Volunteers are needed to help set up and sell refreshments at the 8^th grade Graduation Dance on Thursday, June 11^th.  Help is needed to set up at 6:30pm and during the dance at 8:30pm – 10:30pm.  Funds from the refreshments will go towards the cost of Camp Arroyo.  Please contact me if you are available to help.  Thank you!

 

*Melissa Sale our Party Coordinator is planning an End of the Year class party on Friday.  Details about the party will sent out shortly.  Everyone is invited to attend!

 

*The last day of school, Friday, is an Early Release Day.  Students will be dismissed at 12:10pm. 

 

*During the summer, students are encouraged to participate in the Livermore Library Summer Reading Program.  My goal is to have 100% class participation.  Please contact the library regarding the program.
