My name is Beverly Nation, and I have had the pleasure of teaching at Loma
Linda Elemntary for the past 19 years. Twelve of those years were spent in
Junior First and First grade, and this is the beginning of my 7th year in
third grade. The years spent in the lower grades were good ones and I
cherish the fond memories. It has been very fulfilling to see those little
ones move up through the grades and graduate. As happy as those days were,
I have to say that I have enjoyed every minute that I have spent in Third.

My husband and I moved to California from Jamaica, to attend La Sierra. He,
to do his MBA and the pre-reqs for dentistry, and I, to compelete my
teaching degree. I have a Masters degree from La Sierra University. I have
lived in Loma Linda for the past 39 years. I would not think of living
anywhere else, even with the smog and the constant threat of earthquake
tremors. I love the opportunity California gives me to be able to keep a
garden year round. I will literally spend all day in the garden and only go
in when it's too dark to see. I also enjoy quilting and scrapbooking. But
spending time with the grandbabies is definitely No. 1!

I have three grown children. My oldest son and his wife have two babies.
THey recently moved from Arizona to my home town and it's great having them only minutes away.
My daughter graduated from the Dental Hygiene Program at LLU, and my youngest boy is
living in Detroit for 5 years doing a residency in ENT.

                                                         "Friendship is the Best Ship"

The best Friend is Jesus and He will help each boy and girl to know how to be a good friend.
The focus of lessons in third grade is on mutual respect, cooperation and relationships between
behaviors and consequences. Third grade students are beginning to think somewhat less
egocentrically, and focusing their energy on working together successfully with others. They are
encouraged to start thinking at a higher level while still in a safe environment, as they set their sails
in the direction of their life course.

We are looking forward to a year of "Smooth Sailing" in every way.
