Bible Gospels Journals and projects due tomorrow, we worked on these today in class, everyone had an opportunity to type and retype in class today. Here is a summary of your gospel journals and project:

Gospel Journals

1.       Choose a Gospel (Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John)

2.      Each day read for 15 minutes and then record a journal entry.

3.      Journal Entries: Choose from any of these choices, you may mix them up each day.

*Write down a verse that was meaningful to you

*Write down something that you didn’t know before (complete thoughts)

*Write down something you thought was interesting (complete thoughts)

Gospel Project 

After you read your Gospel you need to choose one of the following to do as a final project.

*Make a colorful time line of Jesus’ life showing important events, miracles or parables.

*Choose 8 verses that are meaningful to you and type them out along with 2 sentences for each explaining why they are meaningful.

*Write a play or reader’s theatre for either an event in the life of Jesus’ life or a parable.

*Rewrite one of the parables in your own words.

*Write a parable in modern day setting.

When you present your project you will tell us what you chose to do, explain what you did, and then share your project with us.  That means that you will either read your parable, readers’ theatre, time line or verse.  At the end of your presentation you will share a favorite verse with us.

Maya Social Studies Project                                      Name_________________________#_____________

Your final Maya social studies project will be an item made at home.  The project needs to be a replica of something the Maya would have made.  It needs to be true to color and material as much as possible from the Maya civilization.

Your parents have already been in 6^th grade, so this is your project!  Parents may assist by driving you to the library to do research, assisting in small supply purchases and general coaching from the side line.  These are student projects, enjoy yourself!

Here are some possible project ideas, you may choose from this list or come up with your own ideas.

Ideas:  models, pictures or replicas of the following: Maya Codex book, Maya Hieroglyphs, pottery, ornaments, headdresses, fans, masks, musical instruments, weapons, dugout canoes, shields, pyramids, Maya math, ruins, temples, ritual calendar etc……

All projects must be approved by Mrs. Richards by October 7 and the final project plus typed circa card is due October 21.

You will need to submit a museum display card (circa card) which gives a very brief explanation of what your artifact is, how it was used and the date it would have been used….SEE EXAMPLE:

Circa: 250 to 900 A.D. This is a replica of a Mayan Stelae.  Stelaes were stone monuments that recorded important events in the lives of Mayan leaders.  Many of these amazing monuments were hidden by fast growing rain forests.

Read over these directions and have your parent’s sign that they know the requirements for the project.

Science Sugar Cube lab....observations... we did a lab together...finish your obeservations and you were given 2 more sugar cubes to take home.... try with your parents persmission another liquid to test the disapperance rate! Due Friday

9-7-11Bible..we started our Gospel projects today...no homework...we did our research today on the author of the gospel you chose with laptops.  Tomorrow we start reading for 15 minutes and keeping a journal.  You received a handout on this today

Magaine drive was held today..yippee..brochures were sent home today...first turn in date is Sept 22, then September 29 and October 6...I know we will be at Outdoor School on the second turn in day!  yeah!!!!

English today we used laptops to type and edit our first drafts of the Mixed Up Files Summary...if you did not finish it, print it and save it on  your flash drive....do it at home tonight
