The fifth grade class has been working on writing stories during the last few weeks. We are now ready to publish our stories. Children will be creating e-books during the next two weeks in completion of this project. Each student will email a copy of his/her ebook to his/her parent at the end of the project. If time allows, students will also record their stories by reading them into a storybook-creating website. Please let me know if you have any concerns regarding your child making an audible recording online.

We are rapidly approaching the end of D.A.R.E sessions with officer Loranjo. The D.A.R.E graduation will be on June 1stfrom 2:00-2:45PM in the Fireside Room.  Also, the children should have brought home a D.A.R.E. invitation for you. In case you have not seen it, please knowall parents are invited to attend this ceremony.Children are expected to write a D.A.R.E essay to reflect what they have learned during the past ten weeks. More information on this assignment is on my website.

This is a reminder that all 5thgraders need to be at school on Thursday at 7:20 a.m. so we can get to Roaring Camp on time. It probably will be cloudy in the morning, so please make sure your children dress in layers even though it is a free dress field trip.  This field trip is all outside and it will go on rain or shine.  All who are going will appreciate prayers for a dry and warm day, but just in case remember your child should dress in layers. This field trip concludes with a train ride through the redwood trees which can be a little chilly. Also remember that all children need to bring a sack lunch on Thursday as well. There will not be an opportunity to purchase food.

Our End of Year Party is our field trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium on Tuesday, June 5 from 8:30-3:30ish. The children may wear free dress clothing that day as well. Lunch on this day will be provided. Lastly regarding the gift shop at the aquarium,if you want your child to be able to buy a souvenir that decision is between you and child. All students will be responsible for carrying their own money.

Wednesday, June 6th, is a minimum day. School will be out at 11:45. Daycare will be provided by EDC,but your student will need to bring a lunch.

Thursday, June 7th, is the last day of school.   We are having an End of the Year Chapel from 9:00-10:00, an all school recess from 10:00- 10:30, then the all school (elementary and middle) talent show from 10:30-11:30. Students may be checked out from 10:00 to 11:30. Final checkout is at 11:30 that day. All parents must sign his/her child out at the tables that will be set up in order to receive a report card. Daycare will be provided by EDC and will start at 11:30.Students staying for daycare must have a lunch.
