April 3rd, 2012

WOW!!!!  I am completely touched by the Genrosity from all of you for myself and Mr. Posada.  Your gift is very much apperciated.  Many have told me it was a great party and a great season.  I agree.

I have now had time to reflect on the season for Basketball and really enjoyed this season.  I was very proud of the students playing and learning more of the game.  I have been very pleased to see many of the students continue to practice and get better.  Some of the sad news is that the eigth graders graduate and people will leave.  The sadest part for me is the first week of School in August, when you did not get to say bye to someone, cause they did not let you know they were leaving and then they are not at school. 


Just a reminder that there are still spots for the various camps that take place.  Camps are April 9th -13th, June 11th - June 15th, July 2nd - July 6th, July 9th - July 13th, July 16th - July 20th.

In one hour is the party and I need someone to make sure they send me the picture or bring me the picture or give me a flash drive with the picture of the A boys holding the Championship trophy.  My camera had died and did not get that picture.  Please send it to me so it can be in the year book.  Hope to see you in an hour.

  Just a reminder that the basketball party is Thursday, 3/29, after school beginning at 3:15 p.m.  If you would like to contribute for the pizza and a gift for the coaches, please give your money in an envelope marked to my attention to Mr. Burman, Mr. Bryant in the office or Matthew Bruton.  I will also be around after school Wednesday.  If you have done so already, THANK YOU!   Also, thanks to those who have offered to bring in desserts and drinks; I think we are set with those items.   I know the kids and coaches will appreciate it.

Clarification on basketball party. . .The money that I collect will be used for pizza and gifts for the coaches (Mr. Burman and Mr. Posada).  I know that a few people have signed up for pizza on Mr. Burman's list, so it's no longer necessary to bring in pizza.  However, if you want to bring in beverages or a dessert (cookies, cupcakes, or brownies), please feel free to sign up on Mr. Burman's list or email me directly at loribruto@aol.com. Our basketball party is scheduled for Thursday after school, 3/29, beginning at 3:15 p.m.  I will organize getting the pizza for the kids and gifts for the coaches, as I think we all agree that Mr. Burman does alot for the kids.  Please contribute $10-$20,

Girls C game is Tomorrow, Tuesday March 27th at 4:00pm at Campbell Community Center Main Gym.  I can take 7 people in the van.  We will plan on being back at the school at 5:40 at the latest.

Great job on signing up for the party on Thursday so far.  Still more can sign up to make sure we have plenty of food.  I will be talking some during the event and want to honor all the players.  If you have not seen the tophies yet, they are in the cabinet in the gym.

Since the majority have picked Thursday as the best day to make it to the party next week, we will do Thursday.  Those of you that play baseball(possibly the greatest sport on Earth, you can leave early to ger to your game.  I have set a Basketball Party Thursday page for us to cordinate some Food and stuff.  Please click on the page and follow the directions.  If you would like to be in charge of the party and make sure we have enough stuff, please volunteer and let me know.

Thank you for all the responses about the Party.  There are a number of people that will not be able to do it next Friday, so I ask, can we try for Thursday the 29th?  Same time, 3:15 to 5:30?  It really would be good to have the most amount of players that we can make it to the party.  Please let me know and then we will try to cordinate how each person can help make it a success.

March 22nd after the 3rd place game and the Championship game.

Great job for the C2 boys team who beat Merry Hill by 20 points to take third place.  If we played like this all season, I believe we could have been the number 1 or number 2 team.

The A Boys battled back and forth and finally put away Miramonte 40-34.  This was a great game.  It went back and forth with each team answering anothers surge.  We were up 29-24 and 23 seconds later they were ahead 29-30.  Rebounding and defense was the key to our victory.  Some key put back shots including the smallest player on the court getting a rebound and sticking it up between all their big guys.  Really was a team effort and am very proud of the hustle of the guys.  Reset well Friday.  The parent and Sibling support was great as well and our boys did not back down to the excessive cheering for the other team.  Great Season.

C Girls Championship is on Tuesday at 4:00 at CCC Main gym.

Question:  Would this Friday from 3:15 to 5:30 work for all teams party?

Students are welcome to have a low-key shoot around practice from 2:00 to 3:00pm.  They can shoot around and work on various aspect of their game.

Also I encourage the C boys to come watch at 3:30 the West Valley against Merry Hill playoff game.  Our C2 team will play the loser of that game on Thursday.

We played hard and almost won two of the three games. 

Congrats to the A boys team for winning a tough game.  Mr. Burman take the blame for the last game, by not setting up a couple of plays at the end with the lead and the ball.  Sorry guys!  Please tell the guys that we did great and can finish our season on Thursday with a win.  Keep you heads up and I will try to keep mine up as there were mistakes I made today in coaching.  We almost beat a great team.  Let's win all the remaining games this year.

We will get better with hard work and coaching.  Please get a flyer from me about some basketball camps that I will be involved in coming up this summer.  We can continue the success here at LACS by working on our games in the off season.

Boys and Girls I am proud of you.  I always like to see teams work hard and make the playoffs, then work hard in the off season and come back stronger then the previous year.  Thank you all.

On Friday at 3:30 we will have an C Boys LACS1 game against LACS2 game.  This game can mean lots for the playoff picture if the C1 boys take care of their last games this week with wins, they can end up the third seed.

Practice today for all teams except for the C girls that go to the Away game at Old Orchard( Campbell Community Center)  Van leaves at about 2:55 and comes back at about 4:55.

This sometimes happens, but I just cauaght it that today is supposed to be a C2 boys game.  I color coated it wrong and made it red instead of blue.  Therefore if you can bring the uniform to the game that would be great.  Sorry for any trouble this may have caused or will cause.

There is still a C2 Boys basketball game at 3:30pm.

February 8th 2012,

Today's game is a C2 boys game at OO.  Van will leave school at about 2:45, 2:50 and return back to school at about 4:50 to 5:00pm.  If by 5:00 no one is here to pick them up they will go to day care.

Unless there is two parents watching practices today while Mr. Burman is gone to the game, then there will not be practice today.  We will try to get two parents to practice so that the A teams can practice while we are gone.

Todays game against the ACS for C1 boys does not look to be happening, but we will have a practice during that time and will go over things.  I tried to have the coach confirm that, but just know it is not on the Ref Schedule.  Trust that you get this before leaving work to watch.  We will practice to 3:15 as the Girls game is at 4:30.

A game today at Foothill.  The school is located at 1991 Landess Ave Milpitas Ca 95035.  We will need to leave at about 2:40 to go to the game.  One van and one parent should be enough to get the boys down there, or at least 11 boys will have rides from school.  There is space at this point for 7 to return in the van.  We plan on being back at 5:25pm.


There will be no practice today for all the other teams.  Please practice on your own, maybe over the weekend if you can.

February 1st 2012

Todays Games are at Thomas More school and we will be leaving at 2:55 at the latest to go to the game.  I will be taking 7 people in the Van.  The A boys will need to leave at 3:45 to make sure they get there in time.  I have not had people let me know that they can drive, so at this point all are responsible for their own rides and I will take the 7 that are in the van.  We will be back at 6:00 to 6:15 today, unless you pick them up at the game.

NO A Boys Game Against FOOTHILL TODAY, Game is on Thursday instead.  So February 2nd at 3:30 we will need to leave at 2:50 to Foothill in Milpitas.  Address coming tomorrow.

Today's C Girls game is at 3:30 at the Campbell community center Main gym.  The van with 7 if needed will be leaving at 2:55pm for the basketball game.  We will be getting out of Chapel at 2:55 for the couple of C girls that are in the sixth grade.  Please let me know if you are driving to the game as well, as I believe all we need is one other driver and the van can take the rest.  The game starts at 3:30 and then we should be back to school by 4:50 to 5:00.  If you are not here to pick then up when we get back, we will send them to day care.

Since there is a C+boys game, the girls are welcome to come watch and learn more from the game today as a watch and ask questions practice, but I understand if they have homework or something else to do.   There is no other practice today.  Sorry for the late.  Of course some can do the book and scoreboard for the game and help out.  Often good to see what they should be doing on the court and not have the pressure of being in the game.

C1(sixth grade) boys 3:30 I can take 7 to the game, so if no one is driving, then at least we will have 7.  This is a game you want to be at.  If there are not 7 in the van I will take some A players early as the boys game is at 4:30, but as of now we only have 4 spots.  There are a couple of parents that said if no one else is driving to the game then I can take off work or change my schedule to make sure you have enough.  Thus please let me know if you are driving by 11:15 so I can call them and have enough drivers to take at least 8 people to the game.  A boys need to leave the school at 4:00 the latest, so 3:55 would be best.

Today's C1 Boys game is away at Thomas More School and I can take 7 boys in the van.  If you are NOT planning on Driving your own student to the game then please let me know that they need a ride.  We play at 4:30 and will be leaving here at 3:45pm to give us 35 minutes for traffic.  They can practice with the rest of the teams until then.  The Van will arrive back to school at about 6:00pm.

Sorry for the late notice, but I decided that since it is cold outside with a chance of rain that we should cancel practice for those teams that do not have a game today. Therefiore, the C1 team and A teams do not have practice, but are welcome to help out during the gasketball games.

January 13 2012

Tuesdays Games:
On Tuesday January 17th the games are at Miramonte and Coach will be driving the girls to the game.  He can take 7 people so please let him know if you need a ride so we can get to the game.  We will be leaving at 3:00pm and then staying for the boys game unless you pick them up at the game.  If you do not come pick them up, we will be coming back to LACS at 5:45pm.  Boys have two cars driving already and space is limited, so if you need a ride then please make sure you let Mr. Burman know ASAP.  One car will be going to watch the girls at 3:20 and then staying for the boys game.  The second car may be leaving later, but plan on it leaving at the same time at this point.  Boys will also be coming back at 5:45.  Besides the two cars going to the game, there is no other car going to the game with a cleared driver that I know of at this point, so you are responsible for your student getting to the game if you do not confirm a spot in one of the cars by letting Mr. Burman know.

Tuesday's Practice:
On Tuesday January 17 there will be a coach a LACS to run all C practices.  Please be respectful and listen well to learn and get better.  Practice is normal time from 3:15 to 4:45 and the kids will be sent to day care at 4:45, so please pick them up on time if you do not want them to go to day care.

January 12th 2012

Because of the two games today, and Finals on Friday, there is no Practice today for any teams.  On Tuesday next week there is 2 away games Girls A and Boys A at Miramonte.  Which bring me to away games.  If you click on the school bus of my main page, you will find a list of places we play.  Go to that one and you should find the address there as well as a link to the school.  I will do that now and may then copy and paste it here.

Tomorrow(Tuesday December 13) there is an A boys game at 3:45 vs Apostle Lutheran and a C girls game at 4:45 vs Carden.  A Girls can practice outside tomorrow from 3:30 to 4:30.  C Boys can come watch the A Boys game and may get to practice outside, but I hope to let you know tomorrow.

December 5th 2011

Can anyone of you help me by picking up a ref from San Jose State for the game tomorrow(December 6th)?  He would need to be picked up at about 3:00 to get back here before 3:30.  Please let me know.  I would do it myself, but my break is early in the day and is 11:15 to 12:20 so let me know early or I will try to do it myself, but then he would have to hangout for a while.

There is two games tomorrow(December 6th) for the C teams.  Anyone sixth grade and under should be there to play.  Uniforms will be handed out tomorrow at school.  Please do not ask I will be coming to you.

While the game is being played the other teams, A teams, can come to watch, but there is not practice.  Also boys are welcome to come in the gym and stay for the game to cheer, but if they leave the gym with out permission they will be signed into daycare and billed accordingly.  Thank you.

There is also a game scheduled for Wednesday December 7th.  This is how that game will work.  Any 5th graders can play in the game and will be able to learn on the spot more about the game of basketball.  We will play 6 quarters or from 3:45-5:45.  First Quarter will be Girls, Second Quarter boys, and so on.  There still will be practice from 2:45 to 3:45 and the A teams can watch the game the game after their practice.
