• I have finally locked a date for our field trip to the De Young Museum!  It is Wednesday February 8, 2012.  We will leave at 8:45 promptly and will return by 3pm.  I will be sending home permission slips tomorrow.  I can take 8 adults.  I would like to take as few vehicles as possible, due to parking etc.   Please let me know if you can drive and the maximum number of students you can take.  If you would like to go and can't carry many students and would like to ride in another car, let me know that as well.  
• This leads to a new CA law that became effective 1/1/12 that we have been asked to relay to all parents. It requires all children age 8 or older to be in a booster seat unless they are tall enough for the lap belt to fit properly: low on hips, touching the upper thighs, and the shoulder belt crossing the center of the chest.  Parents or drivers can be fined $475 for a first offense with a point on their driving record.  Their wording reads that "Most kids need to ride in a booster seat until age 10-12."  
• The Science fair paper work was sent home.  The Science Fair date is Wednesday, February 22, 2012  The paperwork with scientific question and experiment is due on Friday, 2/3.  The internet is a great place to start to look for ideas.  If you need help please let me know before Friday!
