Classroom management?

I utilize three methods to encourage positive behavior in my
classroom. The first method involves points awarded to table
groups that follow directions, work as a team, or demonstrate
good self-control. Each Friday the table with the most points
earns a reward ticket. Individuals may earn reward
tickets for outstanding behavior or other positive contributions
to our classroom. And finally we have the "Behavior Color
Chart." The chart contains a clip for each child with their
class number on it. Students unable to follow class rules will
be given a warning. If further rules are broken the student is
asked to move his or her clip to the next color. There are four
colors and are coded as follows:

BLUE: Excellent behavior.

GREEN: Forgot a rule. (Everyone makes mistakes!)

YELLOW: Forgot another rule. Time out / Note home on
Homework/Behavior contract. Must be signed by a parent and
returned the next day.

RED: Forgot another rule--rough day! A call home by child and
Mrs. Fix explaining the problem.

Each day your child will begin the day on BLUE. Students fill in
their color daily on their Homework/Behavior contract.

Can I volunteer in the classroom?

Yes! I am always thrilled to have parents volunteer either in or
outside of the classroom All help is greatly appreciated. The
students love it too.

What if my child cannot complete the homework?

Homework is expected to be turned in the morning it is due. I
realize that occaisionally family events or circumstances may
require that a student be given extra time to complete an
assignment. If your child needs extra time to complete the
homework because of such an event, please write a note on the
homework contract indicating when the homework will be completed.
