Revise and edit your dialogue with Aaron Hotchner.  Bring it in to homework check points.

Study words 1 through 11 from 1776 for quiz next session.

 Prepare your part of the dialogue in 1776 by reviewing it during silent reading.

This week you have one assignment: create an imaginative dialogue with Aaron Hotchner.

Be sure to use correct punctuation and capitalization (refer to guide in spiral notebook).

Homework this week is to read your personal choice (yummy) book daily.

Be sure you have all dialecticals and chaper titles in your classroom folder reading to use
for the test last session.

November 2 through 6, 2009
Word of the Week: benediction (n) a blessing
Root: dic = to say

Submit evidence of personal reading this trimester in the form of a letter
(at least three typed paragraphs, no more than one page). Due last session.

 Finish dialecticals (boxes) on each chapter.

Create chapter titles for each chapter.
The test allows you to use your dialectical notes and chapter titles.

Further revise and edit your memoir if you were asked to do so.  Put a fresh copy in
        your hanging file for your portfolio.

Make a beautiful 8 1/2 x 11" vocabulary illustration (due last session) based on one
   of the words with mal or bene as a root.

Read chapters 25 and 28 when assigned and do dialectical responses on chart.

In class: Create a chapter title for each chapter
                Do dialectical responses for each chapter.
October 19 through 23, 2009

     Read assigned chapter in King of the Hill.
     Create chapter titles for  each chapter read. (done in class)
     Do dialectical notes for each chapter on yellow handout. (done in class)
     Make vocabulary cards (using the guide in your spiral notebook) on five words.  Try to relate the
     words to characters from King of the Hill. Study all the words for a quiz last session.

     Bring all notes and writing you have done on your research on the l930s for an in-class write.
     This will be done without looking at your notes.

     Study all the words of the week and roots for a quiz on your last session.

     Read chapter 10 (I will give you a copy of the chapter.) and be prepared to discuss it.

     Work on your memoir at home the day it is assigned in class and bring in evidence of
        progress on it for homework points.

     Continue to edit and revise your thirties essays if there are more changes to be made.
          Turn in all copies of your essay, all notes and the rubric.  
     Read assigned pages in King of the Hill.
     Add another page of Writing Territories to your spiral notebook.

September 14 through 18, 2009

    Edit and revise your 1930s essay.  Do more digital notes if your research was scanty.
    Turn in ALL copies and all notes with the newly edited version by the last session.  This will go into
        your hanging file to save for your portfolio.

Check out the new site in News Flash on this web site for your research.  Use the resource room and click on the icons (camera, radio or computer).
Write your expository paragraph summarizing the important parts of your topic.  (You may need two or
three paragraphs, but this should not be more than one page in length.)
Your project is due Thursday (Friday for the blue class.) This includes:digital notes, visual, oral presentation and written expository paragraph.

Read an overview of your research topic on the internet. You may use Wikipedia for this although that site is
not allowed for in depth research.

Do research on your 1930s topic by taking digital notes. 
Try SIRS by going through the school library site.  The user name to login is  CA5737; the passeord is 94941.         This project is due Thursday, September 10th for all
classes except the Blue class which has Friday, September 11th as the due date.

 Welcome!  Start off the year in a great way with homework done on time.
     Bring to class a personal reading book of your choice.  Make it a "yummy" one that you will love to read.
     Write a letter to Ms. Deamer.  Follow the format and the guidelines/directions on your handout.

     Bring your supplies:
          8 1/2  x 11 inch spiral notebook for English only
          1/2" three ring binder and paper
          pencils/ black pen
          post-it notes (3")
          4" x 6" blank notecards
          glue sticks
          hi-lighters (2 colors if possible)
