How can I contact Mrs. Angel?
The quickest way to contact me is by e-mail. I check my e-mail frequently
throughout the day. If you need to speak to me in person, we can arrange a
time to talk on the phone that is convenient for both parties.
How can my child get extra help before school?
Encourage your child to speak with me first. I am in my classroom by 7:15 am
and I am available during guided study or after school. If additional
tutoring in necessary, there is after school tutoring offered in multiple
subjects in the library. The math dept. also has a list of college and peer
tutors available for various rates.
My child says they do not have any homework, how is this possible?
They do have homework. Typical homework assignments should take between 30 to
60 minutes per night. Longer assignments, such as projects or studying for
exams, could take up to several hours depending on the student. I am also
having the students take Cornell notes this year, which requires higher level
thinking. These notes should be reviewed each night to prepare for
the daily quizzes. There are rare instances when I will not assign homework,
but this would be after an exam or before a long school break.
Do you accept late work?
I do not accept late work. Students need to come to class each day with the
previous night's assignment completed to the best of their ability. I do give
partial credit on assignments, thus students can still earn credit if they did
not entirely finish the assignment.
If my child is absent, how can they get their work?
I will be updating this website each unit in order to allow students to keep
track of homework. I also keep a running list on the whiteboard in class, and
students will be assigned study buddies whom they can contact in case of an
absence.
Can students make up quizzes and exams?
Quizzes cannot be made up. If a student misses a quiz, they are excused with
a valid excused absence.
If a student is going to miss an exam, they must notify me prior to their
absence and arrange a make up date. The exam must be made up within one week
of the original exam date. If I am not notified of the absence, they will be
given a make up exam and will not be eligible for any of the extra credit on
the exam. If a student misses the one week window, the final exam
grade will replace the missing exam grade.
Is there a recommended list of tutors available for my child?
The Math Dept. has compiled a list of high school student tutors and a college
tutors. Please ask for one.
