About Art Class

All MHT students have Art once a week.  We are fortunate to have a fabulous Art/Science Lab at school which allows us ample work space for large and ongoing projects.  Kindergarteners through 8th graders are constantly engaged in exploring how the "elements of art" can help their artistic expression.  These valuable artists' tools are:  color, color value, texture, line and shape.  We are continually reinforcing good use of these elements each time me meet.  It is never to early to introduce students to the more sophisticated "principles of art".  Art principles include:  depth (perspective), illumination and balance.  With this knowledge of the principless and elements of art, MHT students can creatively express their own individuality.  If you have come to our student ART SHOWS in the spring you have surely seen how their gained knowledge truly makes for expressive Art.  Our students are incredibly creative.

Your children are my inspiration.  I love their uniqueness and am always learning from them.  It is a pleasure to watch how they grow creatively throughout their years at MHT.  This years 8th graders are my first class that I have taught since they started Kindergarten.....and they've become tremendous artists and independent thinkers.  We are very lucky to have Art for all students at MHT School and I hope to be a part of this rich experience for as long as I'm able.
