What a great month February is! Catholic Schools Week, Lunar New year, etc. Last week we had many activities with our buddies and student appreciation day. This week we had a wonderful early Valentines Day celebration. We made Valentine puzzles for our buddies and helped them decorate their Valentine mail boxes. Thank you to all of the families who donated food and drink for our party.
February is Black History Month so we have been discussing the Civil Rights movement. The children have been working on essays for Mrs. Jordan using the topic of influential personalities.
Everyone turned in beautiful maps so I will be traveling around the world during Winter break while reading the great travel plans.
When we return from our “winter break”, it will be “Fat Tuesday” or Mardi Gras. The 6th grade at MHT celebrates Mardi Gras with a King and Queen leading a parade around the school. Again, our room moms will be asking for your help.
Lent begins on February 22. During these forty days we will be meeting with our Lenten families and participating in many spiritual activities in preparation for Easter.
Please mark you calendar for March 10, our annual Crab Feast. Invite your friends and family or make arrangements to sit at one of our 6th grade tables. It is a great opportunity to enjoy each others company in a fun atmosphere. There will be plenty of delicious food, great auction items, music and dancing. All of the proceeds benefit your children and our school. I look forward to spending a fun evening with all of you!
