I want to extend to you and your child my warmest welcome into our first
grade classroom. I love working with children. I graduated from San Jose
State University with a Bachelor degree in Child Development. After that, I
attended National Hispanic University to earn my teaching credential. In my
spare time, I enjoy reading,
exercising, and spending time with my family. My philosophy for learning is
that each child is unique, and each child learns in a different way. My goal
is to help your child discover his or her individuality and work alongside
with them to maximize it.
First grade is a stimulating, exciting place to be! We'll focus on
developing a wide range of reading skills and strategies through the use of
quality literature and phonics. As a first grader, your child will be
provided with many creative writing experiences, and a wide range of hands-
on math activities that will encourage critical thinking. Social studies
and science units from the rainforest, to insects and map skills will also
motivate young learners. In religion, children will learn about the service
and worship of God, how to live a Christian life. Most of our curriculum is
integrated, which means that themes we are exploring in reading are often
related to a unit in social studies or science, word problem in math mirror
vocabulary presented in reading and spelling.
