BOOK REPORTS

The next and last book report is due on Tuesday, May 22. This month’s genre is biography. All students need only complete a project this month (a written report is not required). They will also give an oral sharing. This is a great way to learn about a famous person in whom they are interested.

 

MATH TESSELLATIONS

A tessellation is created when a shape is repeated over and over again covering a plane without any gaps or overlaps. Another word for a tessellation is a tilingIt is a way to combine art and math. Your children have each created a tessellation project for math. They used a variety of shapes and colors to design these works of art. They will be displayed in the classroom for the next couple of weeks.. 

NOVEL STUDY

We have been reading Ben and Me by Robert Lawson. It is a wonderful story of Benjamin Franklin, as told from the point of view of Amos, a mouse. The students are enjoying reading about the accomplishments of Benjamin Franklin, and will gain an appreciation for him. It ties in nicely with our study ofUnited Stateshistory.

 

REMINDERS: MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

·        The Nativity Volunteer Brunch will be held on June 5 at 8:00

·        The 8^thGrade Tribute will be held on Friday, June 8 during the school day.

·        The 8^thGrade Graduation will be held on Friday, June 8, at 5:00 p.m.

·        Mass and Moving Up Ceremony will be on Friday, June 15 at 10:00
         a.m. Dismissal will follow the ceremony.

·        The last day of school is Friday, June 15. Dismissal 11:00 a.m.

FABULOUS FRIDAY/HOT DOG DAY, FRIDAY, MAY 25^th

Friday, May 25 is Fabulous Friday! Students will be allowed to wear appropriate “Fabulous Friday Dress” on this day! Hot dog lunches are $3.00. Don’t miss the fun!

 MEMORIAL DAY HOLIDAY – MAY 28th

We will be celebrating Memorial Day with a three day weekend. I wish all of you a healthy and safe holiday. Hopefully we will be blessed with some of the warm sunny days we have enjoyed in recent weeks.
