Progress Reports: We are officially in the second half of the school year. Teachers will be submitting grades on Wednesday the 16th and you will be getting your child’s progress report the week of the 21st. If you have any concerns and would like to talk to your student’s teachers, please contact your child’s teachers via e-mail. All of their links can be reached by clicking on Contact Us on the left column of our home page. Please look over your child’s progress report and help to ensure that they are doing their absolute best each and every day.J
Parent Tips and Information:
Helping your child during a crisis or tragedy, either within your own family or on a national scale, is a significant parental challenge. Shortly after the tragic events on the east coast, the Superintendent placed on the District’s website some links to various resources that might be of assistance to you now and in the future. Currently the link is on the homepage and under the Parent Information tab. In a few days the link will be removed from the homepage, but will remain permanently under the Parent Information tab. www.ouesd.k12.ca.us
Attendance
School attendance will be emphasized and monitored closely this year. We all know that there is no educational equivalent to a student being in class. Every day that a student is not in class valuable instruction is missed. You may not realize that we have 5 fewer days of instruction this year and it makes it that much more important for students to be in each and every class daily. Another important fact is that our school district only receives revenue when students show up for school. Our District and school budgets are based on projected numbers of students attending. If students do not attend school, the school does not receive any money for them. Broken down into a per-student per-day amount, each absence results in a loss of about thirty dollars a day. In these tough economic times it is ever so important that we do all that we can to allow for a quality education for all students. I do realize that students get sick and I do not want students to come to school if they are sick, but there are times when students do not attend because they just do not feel well. Every day is important and I would like to see all students in class as much as possible. I want to encourage all of you to try and plan as many things as possible around our school schedule, to help ensure that your child is at school and does not miss out on educational opportunities.
