Welcome to 5th grade at Oak Creek! I am happy to have you in my class!
While I already know many of you, I am looking forward to getting to know the
rest of you and your families.
This is my fourth year teaching 5th grade, though I have been at Oak Creek
since it began. When the school opened seven years ago, I was the librarian.
Since then, in addition to teaching 5th grade, I’ve also taught 3rd and 6th
grades. I feel lucky to be part of the wonderful group of educators that is
the Oak Creek staff. I am also lucky to have chosen a profession I enjoy so
much. I believe I am doing something important and look forward to coming to
school each day. No two days are alike and it is a delight to see the
students’ faces light up as they learn something new!
My family and I live here in Irvine. My husband, Mark, and I just celebrated
our 26th wedding anniversary. We have two sons, both of whom attended Irvine
schools. Our youngest son, Nathan, is a sophomore in college studying
kinesiology (science of how the body moves), and our oldest, MJ, is in his
first year of grad school studying astrophysics. It doesn’t seem like it was
that long ago that I was a parent volunteer in their 5th grade classes! My
family also has 2 dogs, Maggie and Cami. In my free time, I love to spend
time with my family, read, go to the movies, and out to eat!
I am looking forward to a wonderful year!
1. One of my favorite things to do is snorkle, especially with sea turtles
in Hawaii!
2. I love to travel.
3. Bright, sunny colors are my favorite.
4. I enjoy trying all different types of food. I had Vietnamese food for
the first time this summer. I had a difficult time pronouncing everything I
ate, but it was sure yummy!
5. My family and I rescued our two dogs, Maggie and Cami, from the animal
shelter. They love to wrestle together and make us laugh a lot. Cami is
named after two hockey players.
6. I am left handed.
7. There are 6 teachers in my immediate family!
8. One of my favorite places to shop is at Target. I find all kinds of great
things there for our classroom and my home!
9. My family and I are Los Angeles Kings hockey fans.
10. I go to the produce market at UCI nearly every Saturday. I LOVE fresh
fruit!
