keep in mind that they only have about 20 minutes to eat and play
at snack
time.

No. Unfortunately, the kitchen does not open in time. Make sure
your student
has a healthy, reasonably sized snack/lunch to eat each day. Keep
in mind
they only have about 10 minutes to eat at snack time.
When will Homework/Star of the Week/Sharing/etc. begin?
We will begin most of these types of activities in October. We
will be
explaining them at Back-to-School Night.
If my student is going to be absent, who should I notify?
Please call Staci Rossi in the office (936-8550) before 8:30 am
if your
student will be absent, stating the reason for abscence. If they
will be
absent for 5 school days or more and you give your teacher at
least 2 weeks
notice, you may stop by the office to set up an independent study
contract
for them to complete while they are absent. They will not be
recorded absent
if they return the completed contract upon their return.
What is the best way to reach my student's teacher?
The best way to reach your son or daughter's teacher is by email.
With 33
kids it gets tricky trying to remember what parents might have
said outside
in line and little notes tend to get lost or read after school
which is
often too late. The teachers check their email quite often
throughout the day
and it is the most effective way to communicate with them.
How can my student celebrate their birthday at school?
Due to stricter federal regulations encouraging healthy foods at
schools,
students may no longer celebrate their birthday at school by
bringing sugary
treats such as cookies, cupcakes, cake, etc. These special treats
can be
reserved for their birthday parties at home. The best way to
celebrate thier
birthday here at school is by donating a favorite book to our
school
library. They fill out a special label that is then affixed to
the inside
cover. Their picture is also taken and hung up on the birthday
bulletin board
all year in the library. They will still receive their special
birthday
crowns in class and be serenaded with the birthday song by their
classmates!
How can I extend classroom learning for my student at home?
Check out the links page on our Kindergarten website! Please
email your
child's teacher if you find a link that is no longer in use.
Thanks!
What is the homework policy in Kindergarten?
In Kindergarten we are teaching the skill of responsibility
through the
daily routine of reading and homework. At this age level,
students are
dependent upon their parents to model and help reinforce those
skills taught
in class.
Kindergarten homework should reflect your childs thinking,
which will be
used to provide further instruction if necessary. Kindergarten
homework is
daily (Monday - Thursday), is located in the homework section of
our
Kindergarten website, and should be completed within 15-30
minutes. If
your student takes longer to complete assignments, please notify
the
teacher. An additional 10 minutes of reading is a requirement
and can be you
reading to your child or your child reading to you. Homework is
not reflected
in their academic grades on the report card; however, it is a
component of
the work habits and social skills section.
