Dear Parents:

I hope that your families enjoyed the holidays and had a restful vacation. Students and teachers are happy to be back at school and have been working hard. In a few weeks you will be receiving the results of the California English Language Development Test (CELDT) in the mail from the state. Please review these scores with your child.

In October, many of you joined me to learn about the CELDT at the English Learner Advisory Council (ELAC). I strongly encourage you to join me at our next meeting on January 24 at 9:00 to learn ways to help your child improve their English and their test scores.

Spring testing is right around the corner. Fourth graders will take a state writing test in March and grades 2-5 will take English Language Arts and Math exams. Please continue to encourage your children to do their best every day, read nightly and to complete their homework. All of these items impact your child’s success in school! Go Owls!
