Location: Oakland High School and Field Sites (local/transportation provided)

 

Instructors: Mrs. Noonan, Oakland High School

                    Robin Freeman, Professor, Merritt College

 

COURSE REQUIREMENTS/Time Commitment:

Lecture: MON and/or WED in Rm 102NB (6 lecture sessions)

Lunch or after school in September - I will be available multiple times

 

Self-paced Computer Lab at lunch in NB 102 or after school in Main Bldg Computer Lab 325

Exercises 1-6 (one a week)

DUE by Oct. 10 (after end of 1st MP)

 

Field Work: Participation in one Local Community Service GPS/GIS Projects required (6 hrs):

  • Wood Park Map
  • Bay Trail/Greenway Connecting Path
  • Lake Mendocino Camp-out Army Corps of Engineers (overnight -optional)
  • Study Tour to GPS/GIS Program at Diablo Valley College (optional)

DUE: End of October

 

Final:

Class PowerPoint Presentation at OHS or Merritt College

Notebook with all assignments organized in it.

Typed 6-page paper (conservation, land use, GIS/GPS application topic)

DUE: before Thanksgiving break
