Message from the Principal
Dear Families,
Happy New Year! We hope that you all had a restful and relaxing vacation and that you were able to spend quality time with family and friends. Reading a book and curling up in front of a warm fire are great ways to spend time with your children during the cold winter months.
Movie Night and Family Math Night are coming this month! Please see the school bulletin for details.
With the holidays over, January becomes a time when the students’ academic achievements begin to soar. It is at this time of the year, as educators, that we see students making leaps and bounds in educational, social, and emotional growth. Please take some time to enjoy these wonderful changes in your children. Ask your child about school, compare work from the beginning of the school year to what they are doing now, and praise his/her effort.
I would like to thank the Oakley School PTA for the fabulous Pizza with Santa and the wonderful Holiday Gift Shop! The food was wonderful and we were treated to an amazing performance by the district chorus. I’d also like to thank Shannon Page, our music teacher, Roger Tabel, a Delta Vista teacher, and Linda Laituri, pianist, for helping out with this wonderful event. Thank you also to all the students who came to sing! The chorus has been an exceptional addition to the Oakley Union School District.

Pick Up Procedures!!
REMINDER!!!
DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP PROCEDURES
Please follow our designated drop-off and pick-up procedures listed below. These procedures are in place to help the system run smoothly, but most importantly to ensure the safety or your children.
Drop-off
The front of the school is not a drop-off area. Never ask students to cross the street into oncoming traffic or walk through parked cars. This is just dangerous. All students need to be dropped off by pulling into the parking lot and pulling forward in a single file line to the front of the basketball courts. A teacher is on duty there starting at 7:55 am to help your child safely onto the campus.
If you are walking your student onto the campus yourself, you need to find a legal parking place and park to walk them up.
DO NOT DOUBLE PARK IN THE STREET OR PARKING LOT.
DO NOT PARK IN THE BUS ZONE, DAY CARE VAN ZONE, OR IN THE DROP-OFF LANE.
DO NOT MAKE YOUR OWN PARKING PLACE AT THE END OF THE PARKING LOT ROWS.
All of the things listed above create traffic jams and make it take longer for everyone.
Pick-up Procedures
The front and back of the school are not pick up areas for students being picked up by parents. No teachers will be on duty in these areas. These exits are for walkers only. All elementary students being picked up by a parent need to report to the basketball court area where supervision is provided.
Parents need to form a single file line coming into the parking lot and pull up to the basketball courts where a teacher will locate your child and bring them to your car.
Day Care Vans only may go by the line of cars waiting to pick up children and pull up against the building into the Day Care Van Zone.
If you are a parent pulling up and double parking next to the other row of cars waiting, we will not load your child into your car.
Parents of pre-school students and parents wanting to walk up to pick up their children must park in a legal parking place in the parking lot or on the street.
Please use the sidewalks and crosswalks when walking.
DO NOT DOUBLE PARK IN THE STREET OR PARKING LOT.
DO NOT PARK IN THE BUS ZONE, DAY CARE VAN ZONE OR IN THE DROP-OFF LANE.
DO NOT MAKE YOUR OWN PARKING PLACE AT THE END OF THE PARKING LOT ROWS.
If everyone could follow these few simple rules things will run smoother for everyone!!!
Thank you!
