About The Teacher

I was born and raised in New Jersey. As a child, I loved soccer, reading,
writing creative stories, digging in the dirt, collecting rocks, capturing
and raising "pollywogs" (tadpoles), and searching for Native American
artifacts.

When I graduated from high school in 1993, I attended Rutgers University
where I studied Anthropology and Art History. After graduating from college,
I joined the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps and was a full
time volunteer for two years. During this time, I traveled all over the
Southeast and even journeyed to Puerto Rico to work with the Red Cross
during their Hurricane Georges disaster relief effort. While in AmeriCorps,
I worked frequently with children and this was what inspired me to later
become a teacher.

When I'm not teaching, I can be found playing with my cats, camping and
taking road trips throughout the United States. I am also very interested in
archaeology and history, and love to spend time at museums learning as much
as I can.

It is my great pleasure to teach fifth grade students at Ortega.
I have the greatest class in the world!
