Grade Six: Earth Science

Students are introduced to the concepts of plate tectonics and the Earth’s
structure and major geologic events such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions,
mountain building.
Students will know how to explain major features of California geography, in
terms of plate tectonics.
Students will also learn about weathering of rock and soil and its effects
on
the Earth’s topography. Students know how heat moves from warmer objects to
cooler objects by three processes: Conduction, Convection and Radiation.
