Class Expectations:
1. Students will come to class prepared with all required materials, supplies,
homework or assignments.
2. Listen attentively in class to the teacher and other classmates.

5. Participate in all performances and rehearsals for performances.

Objective: Students will be exposed to and practice music in forms of singing,
reading and listening. Students will sight read music in treble and bass clef.
Students will sign a repertoire of vocal literature representing various
genres, styles, and cultures with expression technical accuracy, good posture,
tone quality, and vowel shape memorized, by oneself and in ensembles. Students
will use criteria to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of musical
performances and compositions. Students will learn about historical influences
on music. Students will demonstrate knowledge of music from different cultures
including Chinese, Egyptian, Greek, Indian and Roman music. Students will
demonstrate projection, vocal variety, diction, gesture, and confidence in an
oral presentation. Students will evaluate a musical performance and write a
review focusing on the effectiveness of the performance and composition,
musical themes, genres, music choice and the emotions, feelings and images in
the music.
