Dear Parents,
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to your child's
6th/7th/8th grade year at Our Lady of Guadalupe School! For the 6th grade
parent, it is a time of discovery as their child takes their first steps into
Junior High. For the 7th grade parent, it is a continuing adventure as their
child becomes even more experienced on their path toward 8th grade graduation.
For the 8th grade parent, it is a time in which both you and your child are
split in two directions – both by looking back at the wonderful memories you
have collected by being here at this marvelous school, as well as looking
forward to the challenges that oncoming years have in store. It is an
exciting time for one and all!
I am now starting my seventh year at Our Lady of Guadalupe, and am very happy
to be back after a restful and reflective summer break. I am happy to see so
many familiar faces, and look forward to meeting new ones as well! After
having participated in three different math and science workshops this last
summer, I am excited to try new teaching techniques in my classes. This
promises to be a thrilling year!
For those of you unfamiliar with my background, please allow me to provide it
for you. Prior to my arrival at Our Lady of Guadalupe School, I was the 6th
grade homeroom teacher at St. Bernard School in East Oakland for 3 years. At
that school, I was also the Middle School Math teacher – so I brought my
expertise in that realm with me to Our Lady of Guadalupe. I have my
Bachelor's Degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara, as well
as a Masters of Business Administration from Santa Clara University. I also
have my multiple-subject teaching credential from the California State
University system. I hope that my varied educational background will serve me
well in educating your children, as I have a vast depository of information to
draw from.
A child is educated by all adults in their life – not only their teacher. I
look forward to working with you, the parent, to ensure that your child
becomes as successful as possible in their school life. Please do NOT
hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. I
will get back to you as soon as possible if you leave a message with the
office. The best way to contact me is via email. To email me, you can reach
me either at my home email, kimmilein@yahoo.com , as well as my school email,
khughes@csdo.org . Schoolwork assignments will be updated on a regular basis
