Dear Parents,
On Friday Oct. 14th, we sent home with the AVID students, a letter specifying mandatory tutoring hours for any 5 week marks below a "B". (Students with only A's and B's do not have to complete mandatory tutoring). The letter specifies the number of tutoring hours assigned, the date by which the hours must be completed (approximately the 10 week mark - first week of Nov.), and available tutoring resources, including daily lunch tutoring in room J122 with the AVID college tutors. The back of the letter contains a tutor verification sheet which students should have signed after every tutoring session. Please read this letter with your son/daughter and discuss a plan for completing the required tutoring hours. In addition, please sign the bottom of the letter and send it with your son/daughter for his or her AVID teacher to check-off. Students will be assigned a grade based on the number of tutoring hours completed and the number of tutoring hours assigned. Therefore, please encourage your son/daughters to complete the tutoring hours. An updated version of this letter, with an updated number of hours, will be sent after each progress report card (5, 10, & 15 week report cards).
Upcoming Events
1. Cal-State Northridge Field Trip (tentatively) on Thursday, November 3rd from 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Please read, sign, and return the (cherry colored) permission slip, by Thursday Oct. 20th, if your son/daughter is interested in attending. (This field trip is optional).
2. Knott's Berry Farm (AVID Private Party) on Friday, November 4th, from 4:00 PM to 1:00 AM. Please ask your son/daughter for the (purple colored) permission slip if you/they are interested in going, and please send it along with a check for $32.00 (made out to "Palisasdes Charter High School") by Thursday Oct. 20th. (This field trip is optional).
