Compassion into Action

Compassion into Action...giving a voice to those who can't speak for
themselves.

Note: This link is for students who are members of my "Compassion into Action"
club. This is an extracurricular student club that meets every Tuesday during
lunch in my room, 35. This is a social activism club focused on raising
awareness about animal welfare issues, advocacy for animal welfare, campus
outreach, exploring vegetarianism/veganism, and fund raising for non-profit
charities. Thank mooooo to all who have joined. You are making the world a
kinder place.

Note: To be a member of this club, you must return a parent consent form.

Some of the club's favorite quotes (Club Members: If you find any other
quotes you want me to add, just let me know):

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change
the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."
-Margaret Mead

"All beings tremble before violence. All fear death, all love life. See
yourself in others. Then whom can you hurt? What harm can you do?" -Buddha

"The animals of the world exist for their own reasons. They were not made for
humans any more than Black people were made for White or women created for
men." - Alice Walker

"The question is not, 'Can they reason?' nor, 'Can they talk?' but
rather, 'Can they suffer?'" -Jeremy Bentham

“Ask the experimenters why they experiment on animals, and the answer
is: 'Because animals are like us.' Ask the experimenters why it is morally
okay to experiment on animals, and the answer is: 'Because the animals are
not like us.'" —Prof. Charles R. Magel

"No one in the world needs a mink coat but a mink." -Murray Banks

"Hunting is not a sport. In a sport, both sides should know they're in the
game." -Paul Rodriguez

"When I was twelve, I went hunting with my father and we shot a bird. He was
laying there and something struck me. Why do we call this fun to kill this
creature [who] was as happy as I was when I woke up this morning." -Marv Levy

"Teaching a child not to step on a caterpillar is as valuable to the child as
it is to the caterpillar." -Bradley Millar

"There will be no justice as long as man will stand with a knife or with a
gun and destroy those who are weaker than he is." -Isaac Bashevis Singer

"The thinking [person] must oppose all cruel customs no matter how deeply
rooted in tradition and surrounded by a halo. When we have a choice, we must
avoid bringing torment and injury into the life of another..."
- Albert Schweitzer
