About Mrs. Bain

I am in my 11th year at Promenade Elementary. I am making a transition
from first and second grades to fourth grade this year and I'm very excited
about it! Before Promenade, I spent 1 year at a private school in first grade
and prior to that I spent a year substitute teaching in San Jacinto,
California. During my year of subbing, I spent time in all grades. I also
spent much time in my eldest son's kindergarten, first, second and third
grade classes. He now works as a plumber's apprentice and lives on his own in
Costa Mesa. I also have a 14 year old son named Ian, who is a ninth grader
at La Sierra High School. Ian played saxaphone and trombone in the Villegas
Middle School Band. Both Chris and Ian attended Promenade Elementary School!

In my spare time I enjoy going to EVERY new movie that comes out with
my actor hubby and family (except the scary ones!). I love hanging out with
friends and family-pool parties are the best! We also enjoy watching both
major league and minor league ball games. Go RED SOX!!! If your child
plays a sport, send in a schedule because I love having someone to cheer for!

I received my bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies with a minor in
English, and my Multiple Subject teaching credential and CLAD certificate
from California State University, San Bernardino. I have a Master's degree
in Education, specializing in Reading and Literacy. I am a "Highly Qualified
Teacher" under "No Child Left Behind" and I was the grade level leader for
first grade at Promenade for five years. I am excited about teaching second
grade this year and love working at a great school with an awesome team of
teachers!

Mission For The Class

My goal is to offer a positive, safe, and respect-filled environment
where children can grow and learn about the world around them and their
place in the world. Students need an understanding of verbal and
written language as well as a foundation in math and technology to be
successful in today's world. My role is to facilitate this learning by
giving students many experiences in all curriculum areas, using a variety of
strategies to meet the unique needs of each child in my class. At the same
time, my goal is to connect to the students on a personal level thus
creating an atmosphere of mutual respect. To quote my friend, Mr. Fred (a
former Promenade teacher) "The fun starts here!" (So does the hard work!)
