Effective Study Strategies for Earth Science

Paying attention in class and making sure you take notes is vital to success
in my science class. My notes are nothing more than important facts that are
summarized and most likely will show up in your quizzes and tests.

Policy Regarding Late Homework Assignments

All assignments are due at the beginning of the class on the date posted.
Exceptions are made when a student has an excused absence. Absent student
have same number of days to make up the work as the length of the absence,
without penalty. Late homework assignments will only be accepted with a HW
pass one day later for full credit. Homework assignments that are two days
late are accepted with a HW pass for half credit and no credit by the third day.
after the due date for half the points.

Classroom Policy on Mechanical Pencils

Currently I do not have a restriction on the use of mechanical pencils in the
classroom; however, if it becomes a distraction to you or your fellow
classmates then I may enforce the no mechanical pencil policy. Do note that
there is a mechanical pencil ban in both the Mathematics and Science
Departments. It is your responsibility to check with all your other teachers
regarding their classroom policy.

Topographic Map Project

Provide the measurement of the perimeter of the boundary for your map.
Include a scale for your map as well as include at least one contour line (can
be elevation or depression). Must include a symbol key for the map. You can
create your own symbols, except for the contour lines. You may use the
internet or google Earth to assist you. You are not expected to provide the
actual elevation for the contour line. The selection of the location is
entirely up to you. Select an appropriate working size to map out. Be
creative and add color to your map. Also, neatness counts.
