Prepositions are 'little' words that show a relationship of one item to another, usually nouns. They begin a phrase with the last
word in the phrase being the object of the preposition (one of the items in the relationship).
For example, The bee is near the tree. The preposition near begins the phrase near the tree showing where the bee is located in
relationship to the tree.
Phrases can be moved around in a sentences so one way to be CERTAIN the word is acting like a preposition and NOT another part
of speech (like a verb!) is to BEGIN the sentence with the prepositional phrase. For example: Near the tree, the bee is.
Each week 10 prepositions are introduced. The list that is tested increases by 10 prepositions each week until the 5th week when
all 53 need to be identified on the quiz!
Good luck!
