Birthdays can be celebrated by bringing in healthy or non-food treats to
share with the class. According to a state wellness law, we
can only serve store-purchased, healthy snacks for birthdays. Food treats
must follow the guidelines of less than 30% sugar and fat by weight.
Guidelines will be distributed at back-to-school night. You might also want
to consider sharing stickers, pencils, or other non-food items instead.
Perhaps you might want to donate a book or a Friday Free Time game in honor
of your child’s birthday! If your child decides to donate a book to the
school library, he/she will be recognized at our all-school Friday Morning
Line-ups by the principal and school librarian.
If your student has a summer birthday, please feel free to create an
“unbirthday” for him or her!
