Level 3 – Must do all
1. Write at least a 250 word biography about your explorer. Put the events in chronological order. Have your parents read and help you edit your writing. Spelling and punctuation will be graded.
2. Draw a picture of your explorer – do not print one off of the internet.
3. Create a coat of arms that shows who your explorer was. Ideas to include might be a flag from the country they came from, a picture of an animal that might describe their personality, or ship they used to explore with. Include at least four pictures on your coat of arms.
4. Create a map showing their exploration route.
Level 4 – Choose one
1. Create a time line of their life including their explorations.
2. Make a diorama of your explorer and a scene from an exploration. Put a 3x5 card on the box to explain the scene.
3. Create a journal that would have been written by the explorer. Include at least 5 log entries.
Level 5 – Choose one
1. Create a letter that the explorer would have written to the king or queen of their country telling them about their explorations and what they have accomplished so far.
2. Create a newspaper article highlighting the journey of your explorer. Make it front page news.
3. Compare and contrast the journey of your explorer with another one of your choosing. This may be done in a Venn diagram (neatness counts) or in a compare and contrast writing – at least 4 paragraphs.
