What do all of those initials mean after your name?
Well, M.S. - means I have a Master of Science Degree in Speech-Language
Pathology. I received my Bachelor of Science Degree and my Master of
Science Degree from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. (I grew up in
Pennsylvania.)
CCC-SLP - means I hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-
Language Pathology from the National Organization called ASHA - American
Speech, Language, and Hearing Association.
I also have a license from the state of California to practice Speech-
Language Therapy and a Credential from the state of California to work with
children in the schools.
For 14 years, I worked in Rehabilitation Hospitals, doing speech, language,
cognitive, and swallowing therapy with teenagers and adults that had severe
brain injuries (which is why you will frequently hear me say: You should
ALWAYS wear your helmet when you ride your bike, skateboard, scooter, or
play contact sports!).
I decided to switch to being a speech and language therapist in the schools,
after my son, Zac, started Kindergarten, 12 yrs. ago. I loved helping in his
class and decided that working in the schools with children would be the best
job... and I was right. I love it! (Wow, has that gone by too quickly! Zac
is starting his Senior year at Enterprise High School!)
I want all of my students to love coming to Speech and Language Therapy, to
work on their communication skills.
For the 2011-2012 School Year, my schedule will be:
Monday - Redding School of the Arts
Tuesday - Monarch Learning Center
Wednesday- Redding School of the Arts
Thursday- Office Day - You may see me testing students at your school
Friday - Redding School of the Arts
Use your best communication skills at all times.
