Rome.
Text: Ancient Civilizations: Discovering Our Past.

ASSESSMENT/GRADING: Both class work and homework assignments will be
graded. Assignments will include essays, oral/written reports, tests,
quizzes, writing assignments and class participation. 90% - 100% = A; 80%-
89% = b; 65%-79% = C; 55%-64% = D, and 54% and below is failing.

HOMEWORK: Homework is given daily, Monday through Thursday. Assignments
are extensions of class work. Late work will be accepted one school day
after the assignment was due. Partial credit will be given. Make up work
for absences from class can be made up for full credit. Please check my
website for daily updates of homework assignments.

ATTENDANCE/TARDIES: Regular school attendance is important because academic
skills are presented in sequence. EXCESSIVE absences create gaps that can
be difficult to overcome. If a student has excessive unexcused tardies, it
can result in a “U” in citizenship and parents will be contacted. Please
check the schoolwide tardy policy for more information.

REPORT CARDS/PROGRESS REPORTS: At the end of each quarter report cards will
go home. Progress reports will be sent in the middle of each quarter (about
5 weeks). Report card grades are hand carried home each quarter (10 weeks).
Conferences with the teacher can be scheduled during the entire
year. My conference period is 3rd period—Monday through Friday.
Conferences can be scheduled by phone (310-533-8970 ext. 8909), email
(anewman@etusd.org), or written notice.

If you have any questions or concerns, I can be reached at 533-4790 ext.
