I graduated from U.C.L.A. where I obtained my B.A. in Social Sciences, a
Masters of Education and my California State Teaching Credential degree. I
lived abroad for 18 years in France teaching English as a second language in
private language schools, the Chamber of Commerce Business School and the
Science University in Montpellier, France. Yes, I speak French fluently but
not after many years of trying to master that fabulous pronunciation! I never
did, but I learned a lot about Europe and the world which gives me so much
pleasure in passing that knowledge on in social studies.
This is my 13th year at Richardson teaching world history and geography.
I have two daughters, one just out of South High into college and one in
the Air Force paramedics.
I like to keep the SOCIAL in Social Studies. Current Events and debates are
encouraged in this class.
We learn in many ways and I think variety such as .... quick writes, class
discussions,note-taking, video reenactments of life in medieval times, group
work, research projects, and map activities keep history alive.
"Knowledge is power." Sir Francis Bacon (1561-1626)
"We celebrate the past to awaken the future." guess who?
"I think, therefore I am." He's French...starts with a "D"?
