Hello, my name is Ms. Sandra Cohen. This is my eighth year here at
Rosewood Park School! I started here as a long-term substitute for a
5th grade teacher during the '04-'05 school year and was hired at the
end of that year! When our school grew to include 7th and 8th grades,
I was asked to teach 7th grade Language Arts and '11-'12 will be my
seventh year teaching this wonderful class!
I am the Site Coordinator for AVID
(Advancement Via Individual Determination) at Rosewood Park School. I teach
the 8th grade section of the AVID elective as well.
This year I will also be teaching 8th Grade Language Arts and U.S.History.
I started teaching about twenty-two years ago. I started teaching pre-school
and Kindergarten at a Montessori School in 1992. I recieved my Early
Childhood Development units from UCLA in 1993. In 1998 I went back to
school to earn my Bachelors Degree in Liberal Studies and my Teaching
Credential. I recieved both my degree and teaching credential in 2002 from
California State University, Long Beach. GO BEACH!!
I also minored in Child and Human Development. I am currently back in school
earning my Masters degree in Educational Leadership and my Administrative
Credential at Concordia University, Irvine. I will have my Masters in May
2012!
When I was at CSULB, I worked throughout all different grade levels for Long
Beach Unified through a program called "SERVE" (Service Experiences for RE-
Vitalizing Education). In 2004 I did my Student Teaching here in MUSD at
Potrero Heights Elementary in both second and fourth grades. That same
year I came here to Rosewood Park School.
My family?
I have two beautiful children, my son Joshua, 21 and my little princess,
Isabella who is 5 and is in Kindergarten here at Rosewood Park School! Our
family lives in Sierra Madre, CA.
I will do my best to inspire students and make them see their individual
importance in our society. I will be their role model and I will do
everything possible to have my students develop a passion for life-long
learning.
