RED FOOD’S DAY on TUESDAY at 2:00 p.m.

On Tuesday, February 14th, our class will be celebrating Friendship/Valentine’s Day by having our “RED FOODS PARTY. We

are inviting you to come and join us on the festivities. Please be sure to send in a red food item on Tuesday with your

child. This is an excellent opportunity to taste red food items such as red cherries, red grapes, red apples, red cranberries, red

strawberries, etc.

I will not be sending home a class list. The children are only to write their names on the valentine cards they will be

sharing. There are 24 students in the class. Sending valentine cards is optional. If you like to donate blank valentine cards

for the students who can’t afford them, please send them with your child on February 10th. Thanks in advance!

I will provide the plates, cups, utensils, and napkins. The class party will begin at 2:00 p.m. We hope that you may be

able to join us! Happy Heart’s Day!!

Thanks,

Mrs. LewisJ

Have the students start thinking of a project and we'll get it started on Tuesday!

Here's an example below of what they could put down on their project

ROXABOXEN At-Home PROJECT and In-Class STORY

Our class just finished reading 6 stories from our IMAGINATION UNIT. As a culminating project, the students would like to build their own imaginary town just like the one we read about in “Roxaboxen”.

For this project, our students will be recreating their own imaginary town. They can use sticks, rocks, little boxes, play dough, clay, little play toys, cotton balls, pipe cleaners, puzzles, small rocks, toothpicks, water bottle lids or any recyclable materials to use for their own “Roxaboxen” town. Their task is to complete their imaginary town using the suggested materials at home. At school, the students will write a descriptive story about their imaginary town.  They will then present this project to the class and to the 2ndgrade classes.   The at-home project is worth 50 points and the in-class writing portion is worth 50 points.  Presentation will be on February 23rd.

If you have any questions please feel free to call me. The project is due February 21th. Have fun and enjoy making your own imaginary town!
