I know that for many of you this will be your first time sending a child off
to school. I understand any anxiety you may be feeling and assure you that
your child is my top priority.
I remember like it was yesterday when my oldest daughter went off to her
first day of kindergarten. She was fine, I was a wreck. That was 21 years ago
and the memory of that day is still crystal clear in my mind. When my second
daughter went off to kindergarten five years later my feelings of
apprehension were the same. I was sending off another child and
felt a sense of loss but at the same time, confident that she was headed
towards new and exciting adventures. One of the nicest things about my girls
schooling were the countless volunteer opportunities available to me.
Children love to see their parents helping in the classroom and beyond. I was
room mother for both my girls for many years, helped in their classrooms,
joined committees, and was a supportive parent in the school community. It
was a joy for me and an excellent opportunity to be an involved parent in my
children’s education. I hope you will consider volunteering; your
contributions are so important.
I would like to assure you that as a parent myself and with 22 years of
teaching experience and two years of administration experience that I am
committed to your child’s love for school. I graduated with a BA in Liberal
Studies from St. Marys College. I continued my education at St. Mary's and
recieved a Lifetime Multiple subject Credential and have worked in the
diocese of Oakland for 22 years. I want you to feel confident and
know that I take my job very seriously and I treat all my kindergartners with
the love, respect, and understanding that I hoped for and received for my own
children.
I am so excited to begin a new year and welcome a new group of
kindergartners. Thank you for entrusting your child to St. Catherine’s and
myself and together we will have fun and learn exciting new things.
