The library continues to update and expand the A.R. books available. Please follow the link below to find
over 125,000 possible A.R. books.
The students are expected to read at least 20 minutes a night. They do not always have to read A.R. books,
but with this expanded list it is hard not to!
The students should have read at least three grade-appropriate A.R. books over the summer. They are also expected to read at least one grade-appropriate A.R. book per month. This means that each Room 4 student should have read a minimum of five A.R. books by the end of the first quarter. If more than the minimum number of books is read and the scores are turned in to Miss Sassone, then she will replace lower scores for higher scores on Gradelink.
The A.R. test scores for independently read, grade-appropriate books make up 3% of Room 4's reading grade.
In order to get the Room 4 reading award, a student needs to meet the following requirements:
- independently read A.R. books and take the A.R. tests on the required number of books for the quarter plus one (This means with the first quarter requirement being 5, then plus one makes it 6.)
- turn in the A.R. test papers to Miss Sassone during the quarter
- score an average of at least 85% on the A.R. tests
- the A.R. books must be an appropriate level of difficulty
