(5/20-5/24)
Dear St. Hedwig Families,

You are cordially invited to the SHS Sixth Grade Poetry Night in Room 6 on
*Wednesday at 7pm. Sixth grade students will be reading from their
forthcoming release, Poetry Imitations, a breathtaking and daring book that
brings readers through multiple genres of poetry one heartfelt verse after
another. You don't want to miss this once in a lifetime opportunity. Light
refreshments will be served.

*This event was originally scheduled for Thursday. Please note the new date.

Astrocamp DVD-Thank you for your patience while waiting for the Astrocamp DVD.
The auction committee has been informed that parents are waiting for their
copies of this awesome DVD produced by Dr. Liem. If you were unable to attend
the auction you will still be able to purchase a DVD.

Vocab-U7-9 Assessment on Friday. This will not be a Scantron test, however,
you still need to be familiar with the vocabulary words from these three
units.

English Quiz on Wednesday covering Adverbs lessons 1-3. We will review in
class.

HSS-ROME Test and Essay. I have decided that you will be able to use your
notes for the Rome test. Also, although you are not required to work on your
essay at home, remember that it is due Tuesday. The Rome test is Tuesday as
well.

May 29-Sixth Grade Can Drive supporting the Ronald McDonald House

Have a great week,
Mr. Belisle

Homework-It is my philosophy that homework reinforces concepts introduced in
the classroom and never simply be "busy work". As mentioned at Back to School
Night if your child is taking hours to complete their assignments or the
frustration level is near tears (for either your child or you) please have
them stop. Send a note into school with them and we will be able to work
something out for full credit. Also, vocabulary homework is always the same
and students are welcome to begin making their cards and working on
assignments ahead of time.

Vocabulary Resource-
Go to this website http://www.sadlier-oxford.com/vocabulary/ and find the
levels A-H (middle and high school) Online Component Center. Here you will
find games and online activities to practice weekly vocabulary units. We are
level A.

Gradelink-Not only is Gradelink a great tool for parents, but it is also a
great tool for teachers as well. If a student is absent the assignment will
be listed as a zero or incomplete until the assignment is turned in.
Once I have received the assignment it will be graded accordingly.
