Look What We’ve Done in K-1!
Language Arts
This week started the beginning of turning over sound cards and using letter sounds. We have turned over the Mm and Ss cards. We have also completed associated alphabet book pages that will turn into an A-Z book at the end of the year. With the help of Mrs. Garbe and parents volunteers, we are able to have centers and individual reading opportunities for all the children throughout the week. Please continue to practice reading the pre-decodable books that have come home. You should see about two a week, and about two new sound cards introduced/reviewed each week.
Math
In math this week, we continued forming numbers, counting, and also practiced ordinal numbers. We will continue with higher numbers this coming week. We are also making addition equations for the numbers. For the number five, students used two different colored unifix cubes and found different cominations to 5: 0+5, 1+4, and 2+3.
Social Studies/Science
We have begun our study of Thanksgving. We had fun completing different turkey activities - poems, songs, coloring pages, and painting our huge turkey. Next week we will read and learn more about Pilgrims and life long ago.
Religion
This week our chapter title was, "God Made All People." We sang, prayed for others, and discussed who our neighbors are.
Sharing/Other
Sharing for the week of Nov. 9: Pilgrims or Free Choice!
