Upcoming Tests/Quizzes/Projects

Religion HW - We are working Fridays on our Social Justice Scrapbook.  This Friday, May 25, you need to have completed your  solidarity theme pages with your KONY letter and your reflections on it as well as you Life and Dignity of the Human Person pages with article and reflection.  I will be checking both off for homework/classwork points.
You must also bring in a news article or website which discusses the social justice theme of Care of God's Creation. You can research news articles  about problems in the world that affect our environment or animals such as the deforestation of the rainforests, air or water pollution, the killing of sharks for their fins, the killing of elephants for their tusks, etc.  Or if you want to research groups who work to stop threats against animals and the environment then you can research groups such as the Sierra Club, World Wildlife Federation, Greenpeace, Save the rain Forest, Artic Refuge, Human Society, etc.
Social Justice Themes We will be addressing over the next five weeks:
1. Participation: The Call to Family and Community: We have a right and duty to participate in society, seeking together the common good and well-being of all, especially the poor and vulnerable.
2. Solidarity: We must assist people in need, even people we may not know. We are taught to love others.  Every person is loved by God and deserves to be treated with kindness.
3. Life and Dignity of the Human Person: All human life is a gift from God.
4. Stewardship: We are called to care for  and improve God's Creation
5. Rights and Responsibilities: God wants us to care for ourselves and others in need.  Human dignity and a healthy community can be achieved only if human rights are protected and responsibilities are met.
6. Option for the Poor and Vulnerable: We are asked to share and to respond to the needs of others.
7. Dignity of Work and the Rights of Workers: the basic rights of workers must be respected
